June 1, 2017 - HotFirm 2017Zweig Group announced the release of the 2017 Hot Firm List, an annual ranking of the fastest-growing firms in the architecture, engineering, planning, and environmental consulting industry.  Ranking is based 50 percent on percentage growth rate and 50 percent on dollar revenue growth rate, over the previous three-year period.  For the second year in a row Karins and Associates made the list, this year breaking into the TOP 100 LIST at #92.

“We have made a few acquisitions over the last 3 years to help us diversify our regional presence,” says Dev Sitaram, president.  “The most recent in 2016, Momenee, Inc. in Bryn Mawr, PA, has helped our firm grow revenue, staff and our brand in Pennsylvania.  I am very proud of our employees and am honored to be leading our team.  This award, and recognition, is a testament to the hard work and dedication our employees have to our clients.”

“Getting on the Hot Firm List is like winning an Oscar. It says you are the best at what you do – running an A/E/P or environmental consulting firm – in an industry made up of 100,000 companies,” said Mark Zweig, chairman & founder of Zweig Group.  This ranking, established over twenty years ago, is the only list celebrating and honoring growth in the industry.
Karins and Momenee give back to the communities in which we work.  But our staff…our unsung heroes…take time out of their busy personal lives to contribute to causes they believe in.  This is the first in a series that highlights our staff and the positive changes they make in our world.

MascariVolunteering is a family affair for John Mascari, a project manager at Karins (parent company of Momenee, Inc.), and his wife Carrie.  Carrie's parents, Alan and Christine, started the tradition many years ago by volunteering for the Mancus Foundation of Delaware.  This organization, started in 1955, is the only non-profit in Delaware dedicated to serving the social, recreational and transportation needs of all physically and developmentally challenged individuals, regardless of their disability.  Over time, Carrie started to volunteer with her parents and upon marrying John, he, too, became an important part of their volunteer team.

The Mascari's volunteer duties include assisting during organized social events and field trips.  This could include acting as an "arm guide" for blind members, pushing wheelchairs, setting up events or serving and cleaning up meals.  Often times, it is just providing conversation and an empathetic ear.

Eventually, they were both nominated to the Board of Directors of Mancus and now participate in the planning of fundraisers and directing the overall financial health and future path of the organization.  "It is very rewarding work" says Carrie, "and makes you grateful for all the blessings in your life, especially your good health.  It is a privilege to get to know each member personally over a number of years.  You go through challenges and setbacks with them as if they were your own family member.  It is a tight-knit community and the members take care of each other."

This is a lesson they are passing on to their 20 year old daughter, Samantha, who has grown up in the midst of all the Mancus community and is also now a third generation volunteer!

Philadelphia Zoo smallJune 4, 2016 – Employees and their families of both Momenee, Inc., and its parent company, Karins and Associates, spent the day at the Philadelphia Zoo.  “We try to provide a “fun event” at least twice a year to give back to our staff in appreciation of their hard work,” says Dev Sitaram, president of Momenee.  “It also gives them an opportunity to socialize in a non-work environment.  This was a particularly wonderful event in that it was the first time some of the folks from our Newark, DE, and Bryn Mawr, PA, offices have met.  The Philadelphia Zoo was a great location for both offices and it offered activities for all generations.”
